Core Sweater Pattern

Regular price $12.00

The Core Sweater is a design created by Purl Foundry - this pattern comes in a beautifully design folded printed pattern that fits into your project bag easily!

Structure and comfort are combined in the Core Sweater. It features set in sleeves, cosy turtleneck, split cuffs and a relaxed fit.  Knit seamlessly from the top down, it's a garment you will reach for again and again!

The construction starts at the top. You’ll knit the back to the shoulders, then work each front to match before picking up stitches at the shoulders to shape the sleeves. The yoke is joined and worked in the round to the underarms, where the sleeves are worked while the body is set aside. When the sleeves are done, the body is knit in the round to the hem finishing off with the ribbed neck.

Fit & Yarn Details

Choose a 10 ply / worsted weight yarn OR 8 ply yarn held double with laceweight mohair for a beautifully fuzzy texture.

Size C is worn in all the photos here. The woman with her hair clipped up wears it with approx 35 cm / 13.75" ease. The auburn haired woman wears it with approx 40 cm / 16" ease. Designed to be worn with 15-40 cm / 6-16" of positive ease, depending on your fit preference. Sizes read as A (B, C) (D, E) (F, G).

Finished bust measurements: cm = 103 (113, 125) (134, 143) (155, 165) / inches = 40.75 (44.5, 49) (52.75, 56.5) (61.25, 64.75)"

Yarn quantity: metres = 1000 (1085, 1175) (1260, 1320) (1415, 1470) / yards = 1090 (1185, 1285) (1375, 1450) (1545, 1610)

Needles: 5 mm (US 8) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge) with a suggested 80 cm (40") long cord AND 3.75 mm (US 5) circular needle with a suggested 80 cm (40") cord. NOTE: the sleeves and neckline are worked using the magic loop method, but you also opt for a shorter cord or DPNs.

Gauge: 17 sts x 25 rows = 10 cm x 10cm / 4"x4" square in stockinette stitch. If you have too many stitches across your 10 cm / 4" space, you need to go up one (or more) needle size. If you have less stitches than needed, you'll have to go down a needle size.
